Rules

These may be changed at any time leading up to the event!


  1. A player can only participate with ONE team unless the opposing team allows him/her.
  2. A team may field only 9 players with the 10th batting position being an automatic out.
  3. A team may proceed with extra females, however at no time a team may field more than 7 males.
  4. A maximum of 7 runs per inning. Unlimited runs can be scored in the last inning.
  5. Free substitution is allowed. Re-entry is permitted to the original position in the batting order.
  6. A male must always follow a female batter.
  7. If a team cannot field enough players by game time a default may occur and a 7-0 score will be awarded to the opposing complete team.
  8. Games may start ahead of scheduled times if the field is available.
  9. Home team shall be decided by a coin toss by umpire prior to game.

  10. Both teams should keep score, however the visiting team will hold the official score sheet. At the end of each game the umpire has to check to ensure the following are clearly marked: Game Score , Winning Team , The Field , The Time,/
  11. The winning team must take that score sheet to the approved scoreboard scorekeeper to ensure the win!
  12. Game period: ALL DIVISIONS 6 innings or 1 hour 15 minutes. No new inning shall start after 1 hour 5 minutes except in the case of a tie. (No tie-breakers in round robin games.)
  13. Strike mats must be used. If the pitch was legal and the ball makes contact with the mat a strike will be called.
  14. Foul ball on the 3rd strike constitutes an out.
  15. No base stealing allowed. Runners may advance on a hit ball only. Tagging is permitted.NO SLIDING.
  16. Base runners may leave their bag only after the ball has either been hit or has crossed home plate. To leave early is a leadoff and the runner will be called out.
  17. Runners may advance on a caught fly ball, fair or foul however they must tag up and are in jeopardy to be put out.

  18. Home Run Rule: 3 Home Run Rule. A team is allowed 3 initial homeruns. Then the other team has the oppurtunity to hit their 3 homeruns. Once both teams have acheived 3 homeruns each, then each team is only allowed one homerun more than the other team. If a homerun is hit out of order, the batter will be called OUT.
  19. Home Plate Safe Line: A 6 foot line drawn from home plate perpendicular to 3rd base from the top left hand corner of the plate is established to prevent any contact at home, a player who touches home plate whether or not a play is made will be called out. An offensive player who runs into the defensive player at home while they are on the plate will be ejected from the game. This safety rule will be strictly enforced!
  20. Teams consuming alcohol or prohibited drugs on ball-fields or sidelines will be subject to forfeiture of game.
  21. MALE BATTER WALK RULE: If a male batter is walked, regardless of count he will be awarded second base and the next batter, the female, HAS THE OPTION TO BAT.
  22. To speed up play and maintain fairness for all teams the home team shall not bat if leading in the last inning.
  23. MERCY RULE -After 5 innings if a team is leading by 10 or more runs the game is declared over. The score at that time is the official score.
  24. Due to the game-time allotted there is to be no infield or outfield warm up balls taken on the field. The pitcher will receive 3 warm up pitches at the start of the game and none during the remainder of the game. A new pitcher if they have not pitched in that game will get 3 pitches to warm up. To toss the game ball around the bases is permitted once per inning per team.
  25. REGARDLESS OF STARTING TIME OF GAME THE GAME MUST END AT POSTED TIME DUE TO THE NEXT GAMES MAINTAINING THE SCHEDULE. If a game is called for time the score shall be the score at the end of the last full inning! NO WARNING IS NEEDED

Teams will be listed as they register, but the schedule will not be posted until all 32 teams are found, or June 30th whichever comes first. This website will act as the official schedule until the first game is played on Friday morning. After that point the master schedule at the Ball Park will be the official schedule. Teams will be put into round robin groups. Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win and only one for a tie. If there are teams that have the same amount of points at the end of round robin play, the team with the least runs allowed will advance, if still tied the team with more runs scored will advance. If teams are still tied they will split the winnings up to that point and the winning team will be decided by a coin toss. (Tournament format may change due to flooded diamonds but teams will still be guaranteed 4 games)

Please be aware that the winning team will be in charge of providing an ump and scorekeeper for the following game. The first game of the day and the finals will be umpped by a Burstall Lion's Member. All other games will be umpped by the winning team of the previous game. (Payout format may change based on tournament format but total payout will remain the same)
