In accordance with the RCMP, alcohol beverages can no longer be consumed in the 'Free Camping' area.
A designated group camping area will be posted on the southwest side of the main entrance to the ball grounds (where camping normally is). Access to this area will be by paid permit only. This area will be a group camping area without designated sites. The site will be considered a private residence under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act. A camping unit must consist of a tent or some type of camping vehicle.
A private vehicle cannot be considered a camping unit as the possibility exists that an intoxicated person in the vehicle could be considered to be in care or control while impaired under section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Free Camping will still be offered on the northwest side of the main entrance but alcohol will not be permitted and may be subject to fine under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
Upon arrival, campers are asked to report to the 'Lion's Shack' located on the east side of the station house to get their permit. Weekend permits will only be $5.
